JOB TITLE: Information Technology Specialist
SUMMARY
The Information Technology Specialist supports the effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of information technology services, systems, and networks across the organization. This role provides technical support for hardware, software, telecommunications, web-based systems, and network infrastructure while ensuring compliance with established IT policies, procedures, and security standards. The IT Specialist assists end users, monitors system performance, implements technology solutions, and collaborates with IT leadership to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the operation, maintenance, and administration of district systems, networks, and IT services.
- Maintain and document backups of internal servers under the direction of IT leadership.
- Maintain telecommunications systems and web-based technologies.
- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and other network-connected devices.
- Install, configure, and support hardware and software in accordance with organizational standards.
- Monitor network performance, device functionality, system security, and backup operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Support the implementation, deployment, and operation of information systems.
- Evaluate and test system functionality to optimize performance and reliability
- Monitor and verify website functionality and availability.
- Generate reports and prepare status updates for management as requested.
- Research, recommend, and assist in implementing technology solutions that improve data accessibility and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and training to support staff and end users.
- Assist with special projects, events, and activities as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with established IT policies, procedures, and security requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Experience supporting Windows-based environments, desktop and laptop systems, servers, printers, and network infrastructure.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Webex, Zoom, and Skype.
- Experience with systems administration, technical troubleshooting, network support, and end-user support.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of computer systems, information technology principles, and technical support methodologies.
- Knowledge of systems testing, evaluation processes, and performance optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of IT security principles, methods, and best practices.
- Knowledge of automated records and information management systems.
- Knowledge of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, internet technologies, and emerging technology trends.
- Knowledge of VPN technologies, firewalls, encryption, and network security concepts.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
